While I'm not saying never, never, never under any circumstances... It's in your best interest to keep communication to a minimum. The rules in a nut shell are simple:

1) Any time you speak to the police, for whatever reason, you run the risk of becoming a victim.
2) If you initiate contact be careful when dealing with them.
3) If they initiate contact it's probably best to just keep quiet.
4) Never confess to the police. I don't care if you DID do it. There will be plenty of time to confess, no sense doing it right away.
