The Laws of Magic

Very informative post.
Having spent many years working with ritual and magic, I would have to say that the author has left out one of the most important laws of all. The Law of Free Will. When working with magic it is imperative we never attempt to tamper with the free will of another.
I remember the one time that I tried to use magic to gain the commitment of another person, thinking only of my own desires and not taking into account whether or not the other person wanted the same thing. It was during a winter solstice gathering (in keeping with the spirit of Yule....lol) where we had made a huge spiral of flowers and had hand made white candles earlier in the day. Dressed in our Goddess finery we performed a magic ritual to attract into our lives what we wanted for the New Year. We performed a goddess dance, one at a time and danced into the spiral with our lit candles. At the center of the spiral we made our desires be known and then had to light the candles in the center from our own candle. I let my desire be known and tried to light the candle in the center but as soon as I lit it, both candles extinguished themselves. I started again and the same thing happened again. It was then that I realized that I was trying to tamper with the free will of another and so the third time I left out the name but kept the desire the same. This time the candle lit with no problems and the flame burned brighter and longer than all the other candles. The outcome happened just as I had asked for and in the exact time frame that I had asked for.................but with someone totally different and unexpected.
I love magic but its power should never to be underestimated and should only ever be used in the right way.
