I think, probably "Yes". Even though we here are trying to redefine, ourselves and our perception of truth, and our part in the oneness. There are many, many more completely oblivious to what's going on. So maybe the cosmic 'kick-up-the-arse' is needed to bring to the attention of 'the masses' what's REALLY going on, as opposed to what we're told is going on.

As pure consciousness, perhaps not. I think that cosmic energy gives consciousness the means to experience the universe in it's many forms. As a seed needs sunshine and water to sprout, I believe, so does all life.
